Tiffin Allegro Club Rally
June 14-18, 2021
By Sally Moore
After a long hiatus due to the pandemic, the Tiffin Allegro Club hosted its first rally for 2021 in the beautiful Amana Colonies, Iowa June 14-18th. Over 300 coaches were present! The weather was gorgeous with bright blue skies and a week of sunshine. We were very excited to host coaches from 41 different states. This is the largest number of states that we have had.
Guests began arriving days prior to the opening day of the rally. The Amana Colonies is a lovely area to visit with an open, rolling landscape and beautiful historical buildings. The local restaurants all offer a variety of German dishes to tempt visitors.
When rally week arrived, Sunday and Monday saw the remaining coaches arriving steadily throughout the day. Thanks to a top-notch parking crew of volunteers, the coaches were guided in and parked quickly and efficiently. Guests made their way to the Rally Building where they were greeted by more volunteers staffing the Registration Tables and received a welcome bag of Tiffin gifts. Guests visited the vendor area and shopped for items ranging from satellite systems to cleaning cloths. We were very happy to have several vendors participate in this rally. Very popular booths were the folks representing the Tiffin Parts Store and our Tiffin Allegro Club store.
The rally officially kicked off Monday evening with a welcome by Kelly & Sally Moore. We were honored to salute our many Tiffin owners who have served our country both in the military and as first responders. Anthems from each branch of the service were played as those veterans stood and the flag from their branch of service was presented on stage. Lee Greenwood’s, “Proud to be an American” then had everyone on their feet waving American flags. Veterans, we are honored to pay tribute to you! Thank you, volunteers, for your assistance! After the veterans’ salute and several door prize presentations, everyone enjoyed our version of Bingo, aka TIFFIN BINGO!
Norma Thomas lead a group of faithful walkers each morning around the RV park. This was a great time of fellowship as well as getting those steps in!! Our trusty crew of golf cart chauffeurs were out early on Tuesday morning bringing everyone to the various buildings hosting seminars. Among other topics, rally attendees learned more about the operation of their television & navigation systems from Triple H Electronics, the Tiffin electrical system by Daniel Allen, Michelin tires and many others. After all of these talks and discussions, it was time for delicious ice cream. Everyone was treated to locally “made in Iowa” ice cream. Hereafter known as the Zephyr of ice cream, Thelma’s Famous Ice Cream Sandwiches, were a huge hit with everyone!
A recent feature of our Tiffin rallies is the Chapter Meet & Greet Session. Chapters present at the rally are given time to display information and share about their chapter with other members. Often chapters will enlist new members during this session and new friendships are formed!
Tiffin Motorhomes is growing and expanding while continuing to be an industry leader focused on customer satisfaction. We were pleased to have Frank Wyzywany of Tiffin Motorhomes on hand to present three sessions on “What’s New for 2022!” This interactive slide presentation helped answer many questions about the new and innovative features coming on all 2022 Tiffin coaches.
After more Tiffin door prizes awarded on Tuesday night, everyone was delighted to see Elvis return for an encore performance! Dwight Icenhower is a 4-time World Champion Elvis tribute artist and presented an awesome rendition of some of Elvis’ greatest hits. Dwight pays homage to Elvis Presley with great respect and everyone enjoyed his concert.
Wednesday brought another series of seminars with popular sessions such as Freightliner Custom Chassis and Harold Kimbrough from Onan. With a break for lunch at the various food vendors present, the seminars concluded mid-afternoon. Always a fun activity is the RV & campsite decoration contest among the owners. Competition was fierce! We had some fantastic entries this year in the theme of “Celebrating Old Glory”. Monday, June 14th was Flag Day and over 50% of everyone present was showing their patriotic colors! Winners were announced at dinner and each couple received Tiffin gift certificates. They were 1st place: Roger & Elizabeth Harshbarger, Atwood IL with Paul & Judy Rooney, Decatur IL. 2nd Place went to Tom & Shelley Soik, Inverness FL. 3rd Place was James & Cheryl Labry from Destrehan LA. Thanks to everyone who participated!
After another round of door prizes including several $100 gift cards on Wednesday evening, Conner Lorre treated the group to a great show. Conner is a Singing Impressionist and has performed at multiple Tiffin rallies. Everyone enjoyed his impressions of great artists through the ages. A crowd favorite was several hits from the famous ‘rat pack’! Conner sang songs from Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond and even Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits. Many songs became crowd sing-alongs!
Thursday had everyone up and out early again to take in more seminars. We were very fortunate at the Amana RV Park to have four seminar areas where everyone could comfortably enjoy learning more about their coaches. Gary Harris, Powerglide Chassis manager, drew a large crowd as well as Chris Crowell from Cummins; Chris McCondichie from Allison Transmissions and many others. The information gleamed from seminars alone is worth the price of a Tiffin rally! Good entertainment, fun and fellowship with other Tiffin owners are great side benefits.
We are thankful to our owners who participated in the Tiffin swap meet Thursday afternoon. Bargains were found and another great opportunity to visit with everyone. This was the largest swap meet we have ever had! Great turn-out! Bargain hunting also meant we needed more ice cream!
A very special ‘thank you’ goes out to the Tiffin service teams who worked tirelessly to visit each Tiffin coach performing minor repairs and adjustments. Our Tiffin techs sacrifice time away from their families to travel with us to rallies across the nation, sometimes working under hard conditions without the proper equipment, to represent the Tiffin brand and help owners any way possible. A big hat’s off to these guys!
Thursday night was our Farewell Evening. After door prizes including two special gifts (guaranteed free admittance to any Tiffin rally held before December 2022), everyone enjoyed stepping back in time to the music of Heartache Tonight, A Tribute to the Eagles. Folks were encouraged to sing along to some favorite hits!
Friday saw coaches hitting the open road again as people moved on to their next travel destination. Many coaches remained at Amana over the weekend to continue exploring the area and participate in the upcoming Wurst Festival. With 50 amp electric, water and a sewer connection, there was no rush to move to another campground. Amana was an excellent host for our Tiffin rally and really rolled out the red carpet.
Our next Tiffin rallies will be held in October at the beautiful Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort in Casa Grande, Arizona. October 18-22 will be for Class A units only and October 25-28 will be for Wayfarer coaches. These rallies go on sale in late July. Check www.tiffinmotorhomes.com for details and pricing. The Vermont rally originally scheduled for fall 2021 will be rescheduled at a later date.
Watch for an email from Tiffin Sideroads this fall announcing our 2022 schedule. Tiffin rallies are very popular so make your plans early if your travel schedule pairs up with ours. Registration is always made online at www.tiffinmotorhomes.com for each Tiffin rally. We look forward to hosting you at a Tiffin rally one day soon!
Until next time, “Happy Trails”!
